Waking up to water is one of the first piece of advice I give to anyone looking to move themselves towards optimal health! It is estimated that over 75% of American adults suffer from chronic dehydration! Don’t be a part of that 75%! Dehydration causes a multitude of health issues and keeping hydrated is one of the most important things you can do every day of your life!
Rule of thumb drink 1/2 your weight in ounces of water every day! For example, a 120 pound woman would need to drink 60 ounces of water every day. 120/2 = 60 ounces. Simple as that!
Waking up to water can be an incredibly beneficial habit to create in your life!
This morning tonic combines anti-inflammatory spices and detoxifying lemon to help kick start your health! It’s extremely cleansing and will get things moving, if you know what I mean!
Let’s do this!
16 oz – 32 ounces of water (3/4 room temp and 1/4 hot)
Juice from 1/2 – 1 lemon
1/4 tsp lemon zest (if using organic lemons)
1 tsp turmeric powder or 1/2 inch grated turmeric root
1/8 tsp cayenne powder (optional)
1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger spice or 1/2 inch grated ginger root
1/8 tsp of black pepper
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
Fill the drinking container with 3/4 full with filtered water. Squeeze juice from 1/2 – 1 lemon. Add zest, turmeric, cayenne powder, Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, pepper, and ACV. Fill the rest of the container with water that has been boiled but wait about 4 minutes to cool before pouring into drinking glass.
Tips: To protect tooth enamel, use a glass straw and swish with 1/2 tsp of baking soda in 4 ounces of water. Don’t brush your teeth before or after drinking by 15 minutes.
