Hippie Moms Aren't Crazy

Homemade Hand Soap

I notice when I travel and use “other soaps” my hands deteriorate and become crocodile like. Most store-bought soaps strip essential oils from your skin and leave them dry and flaky.

Do you ever experience this?

They can also pose several health risks and add to the toxicity of your body! (Read why here)

Ditch store bought chemical laden soaps contained in plastic containers and create an easy, non-toxic, and effective DIY liquid hand soap in your own home… I use mine in my kitchen and bathrooms. 🙂

Let’s do this:

Homemade Hand Soap

  • Pure Castile Soap
  • Vegetable Glycerin (organic and non-GMO)
  • Distilled or Filtered water
  • Optional: 20 + drops of Essential Oils (depending on the size of container. I use 15 drops for a 8 oz container.)

Recommended Oils: Lavender, Lemon, Eucalyptus, and/or Thieves

Using a dark glass amber container with pump, fill the bottle about 2/3 full of Pure Castile soap, 1/4 full of vegetable glycerin, and the rest with filtered or distilled water. Add your favorite essential oils, shake, and boom!

Hippie Tips: By trial and error you will discover the consistency you like best for your mixture. I tend to like it thicker so I use more castile soap and glycerin. Play with the ingredients to find your soap consistency happy place 🙂

Also, the soap dispenser can become clogged and create a uncertain dispensing direction… so be mindful and clean the pump as you see fit.

Do you already make your own hand soap? Please share your recipe!

Live Hippily… and make your very own homemade hand soap 🙂 XO
