This bark is amazeballs…
… it’s full of antioxidants, fiber, protein, healthy fats, and most importantly chocolate!
You can interchange, exchange, add, or subtract any of the bark ingredients (except the chocolate!) It’s a great way to begin making your own bark bars at home and skipping store bought bars with… well who knows what in them.
I love knowing exactly what I’m putting into my soul’s home… along with quenching my chocolate cravings.
A Hippily Guide to Homemade Dark Chocolate Bark Ingredients:
3 – 2oz 100% cacao bars (organic fair trade suggested)
1 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp raw and unfiltered honey (or sweetener of choice)
1 cup almonds (I use organic sprouted almonds)
2/3 cup organic raw cashews
1/4 cup chia seeds
1/4 cup hemp seeds
2/3 cup raisins (can sub for any dehydrated berry)
2 tbsp of goji berries (I use just a few of these for their super powers… but they are EXPENSIVE! so I just use a bit)
1 – 2 tsp of celtic sea salt (you can also sub pink himalayan sea salt)
Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate, coconut oil and sweetener. Stir frequently until all ingredients are melted completely and mixed evenly.
Line a 7 x 11 inch pyrex glass dish (or any other larger glass dish with a top) with unbleached parchment paper.
Mix the rest of the ingredients (minus the salt) in a medium size bowl. Once the chocolate mix is melted combine with dry ingredients. Stir well as the seeds will be at the bottom and it’s best if they are mixed in evenly.
Pour this heavenly mixture on top of parchment paper in glass container. Sprinkle salt evenly… the salt really makes it pop so use as much or as little as you like.
Cover and place in freezer for 1 hour to set. Move and store into refrigerator.
Eat and enjoy!
