All it took was…
…one meeting and a piece of advice for a miracle to happen in my home.
Getting kids to eat their veggies and actually wanting to is an art that begins when they are young.
After a yoga class I sat down with a mom of two beautiful children.
Her children are older than mine so I had already set the intention to seek advice on how or if she got her kids to eat their vegetables.
Whenever I ask a mom this, I always walk away with another amazing recipe (like CHIA BALLS!) or ideas to hide vegetables in a meal.
This meeting was different.
She told me that her kids eat raw spinach.
Did she lock them in a room and told them they couldn’t leave until they ate it? I thought.
Nope, she just put it on her plate every single night and finally the kids took to it.
“They love it now”, she said.
I thought… wow, that takes a lot of perseverance, but getting spinach, or any greens for that matter, in my kids bellies is definitely worth it.
The photo shown in this blog post shows my boys (1 & 3yrs) eating spinach… they didn’t eat all of it…
…but they did eat it!
I used this perfect piece of advice, persevered, and voila!
This was one trick every mom should know… and share.
…and the beauty of it is it isn’t necessarily a trick.
I quit sugar recently published an article titled How to get your kid to eat like a grown up.
It has great ideas to set the foundation for healthful eating. We all know it begins at an early age.
They may not always choose to eat spinach, but having the option is an excellent start.
