I’ve tried countless green smoothies. I believe the trick is to keep it complicated.
Just kidding… BUT although this recipe is not simple it is full of ingredients that I believe many of us should have on hand to cultivate health and wellness. I’ve noted sourcing on some of the ingredients and a few other insight to why I use them. I make my nut butters and nut milk weekly and like to mix up the greens I use to keep my body guessing. It’s important to mix it up.
This smoothie can be a meal replacement or after work out snack. It is loaded with protein, fat, fiber, greens, and TONS of antioxidants. It fills me up for 4-6 hours! Boom.
Let’s do this:
Super Green Smoothie
2 bananas (ideally frozen – add a handful of ice if not frozen)
1/2 cup frozen blueberries (My favorite is from Trader Joe’s Organic Wild Blueberries… I buy 5 every trip)
1 huge handful of spinach, dino kale, or other mild greens
2 tbsp nut butter (I typically use homemade almond butter. Recipe here)
2 tbsp hemp or chia seeds (I also source from Costco)
3 tbsp MCT oil (read about the benefits here)
1//4 cup coconut milk yogurt (or any non dairy yogurt. Coyo is absolute favorite as it’s full of good fat and probiotics. Find it in a store near you here.)
1 cup coconut water
3 cups nut milk
1 tbsp spirluina powder (optional read more about this superfood here)
1 serving of collagen (favorite brand here)
1 tbsp local bee pollen (optional)
3 dates (this is optional but really adds a naturally sweet touch)
Add all ingredients to blender (my absolute favorite mixer is a Vitamix) and blend until smooth. Simple, eh?
