Hippie Moms Aren't Crazy

Top 10 Must-See Hippie Mom Documentaries

Snuggle up with your favorite cup of tea or glass of (organic) wine and begin your journey to know the truth that our community must face and use as fuel to create the change in our families!!!

By now you all probably know how much I love documentaries! I enjoy seeing parts of life not diluted or molded by the media. Documentaries allow these stories to be told in their entirety and the voice of the people and planet can be shared to the masses!

The more you know what the is going on with our food, sickcare system, and declining health of our entire population, the more fuel you have to navigate through all the lies and tricks Big Companies create to sell you their toxic and crappy food-like products.

We must stop living in ignorance and believing that our food system is safe. NO ONE is looking out for you or your children. You and your alone must advocate for your health and the health of your family. Understanding and acting upon this truth is the only way we can change the world.  Our future depends on it. Our children’s future depends on it… is that enough for you? It is for me.

BE informed and understand how every single choice we make either moves us towards sickness or wellness!!! We either feed or fight disease with every food choice we make.

Let’s do this!!!

Here are My Top Must-See Hippie Mom Documentaries

Cowspiracy –  Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged. (on Netflix & Amazon Prime)

The Hidden Story behind Vaccines, Big Pharma and Your Food! Bought dives deeply into the inner workings of the industries at the core of our food and healthcare system, exploring the truth about how vaccines and drugs are developed and rushed to market and the ongoing secrecy behind the genetic engineering of our food supply. (Source)

Forks over Knives – The feature film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. (Available on Netflix)

What’s with Wheat – A new feature-length documentary from Australian nutritionist Cyndi O’Meara paints a largely one-sided look at wheat’s villainy, from promoter of diabetes and leaky gut syndrome to enabler of industrial agriculture’s greatest excesses. (Netflix)

In Defense of Food –  Michael Pollan’s journey of discovery takes him from the plains of Tanzania, where one of the world’s last remaining tribes of hunter-gatherers still eats the way our ancestors did, to Loma Linda, California, where a group of Seventh-day Adventist vegetarians live longer than almost anyone else on earth, and eventually to Paris, where the French diet, rooted in culture and tradition, proves surprisingly healthy. Along the way he shows how a combination of faulty nutrition science and deceptive marketing practices have encouraged us to replace real food with scientifically engineered “food-like substances.” And he explains why the solution to our dietary woes is in fact remarkably simple: Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants. (Netflix)

Human Experiment –  Recently, the regulation of chemicals has become one of those rare issues that has bipartisan support. The current law — the Toxic Substances Control Act, or TSCA — is full of loopholes. And, as the movie indicates, chemicals are generally considered innocent until proved guilty. In other words, just because that mascara or can of soup or carpet cleaner is being sold in stores doesn’t mean it won’t hurt you. (Just think what we’ve learned about formaldehyde, DDT and, Roundup.)

Hungry For Change –  Hungry For Change exposes shocking secrets the diet, weight loss, and food industry don’t want you to know about; deceptive strategies designed to keep you coming back for more. Find out what’s keeping you from having the body and health you deserve, and how to escape the diet trap forever.  (Available on Netflix & Amazon)

Food Matters    With nutritionally-depleted foods, chemical additives and our tendency to rely upon pharmaceutical drugs to treat what’s wrong with our malnourished bodies, it’s no wonder that modern society is getting sicker. Food Matters sets about uncovering the trillion dollar worldwide sickness industry and gives people some scientifically verifiable solutions for overcoming illness naturally. (Available on Netflix & Amazon)

GMO/OMG –  The director and concerned father Jeremy Seifert is in search of answers. How do GMOs affect our children, the health of our planet, and our freedom of choice? And perhaps the ultimate question, which Seifert tests himself: is it even possible to reject the food system currently in place, or have we lost something we can’t gain back? These and other questions take Seifert on a journey from his family’s table to Haiti, Paris, Norway, and the lobby of agra-giant Monsanto, from which he is unceremoniously ejected. Along the way we gain insight into a question that is of growing concern to citizens the world over: what’s on your plate?  (Available on Netflix & Amazon)

Before the Flood – If you could know the truth about the threat of climate change — would you want to know? Before the Flood, presented by National Geographic, features Leonardo DiCaprio on a journey as a United Nations Messenger of Peace, traveling to five continents and the Arctic to witness climate change firsthand. He goes on expeditions with scientists uncovering the reality of climate change and meets with political leaders fighting against inaction. He also discovers a calculated disinformation campaign orchestrated by powerful special interests working to confuse the public about the urgency of the growing climate crisis. With unprecedented access to thought leaders around the world, DiCaprio searches for hope in a rising tide of catastrophic news. (Available on Netflix & Amazon)
